A little while ago I wrote down a list of resolutions on my phone, one of which being to try and read everyday for an hour at the minimum. I then forgot I ever made that list and made a whole new list of resolutions instead. After finding it a few days ago I decided to tweak it ever so slightly, to try and encourage myself to read more. I used to love reading, most of school lunch times were filled with browsing the library for the perfect weekend book to take home. Over the years I've grown out of it slightly and I find it so hard to motivate myself to pick up a book and just sit down. Now, as I'm trying to write my own at the moment one of the most important things I can do is to keep reading so I can pick up new inspirations and tips on improving my own style.
So, I have devised a cunning plan ... Actually it's not that cunning. I'm setting myself a challenge, because January could do with a few more of those. I'm challenging myself to read a new book every month, that means that by the end of each month I should be putting one book down completely finished and picking up a new one to start. And as a little insentive to keep this up, for every book I finish I get a little treat as a reward ... probably a new book as I don't currently have a years supply of books on my shelves, but also little trips out to places I've been desperate to see. This is going to be tough, mainly because I'm lazy and it's so much easier to just stick netflix on and browse my facebook all evening, but I'm going to stick to it.
Is this a challenge that you guys would be interested in? Maybe we could do it together, or maybe there's a goal of your own you'd like to make in to a challenge?
